Devotional Morning Ritual
When it comes to talking about devotion, it can be in such lalaland. But on the path of devotion, what I came to discover was practical, simple ways of living, breathing and embodying this work.
If you ever question, where/how do I even start?
My simple answer for you is Morning ritual.
At this stage, you've probably like, "I've heard that before. All the coaches talk about it."
And you're probably right. But beyond the benefits of starting the morning fresh, energised, motivated, Morning ritual is a way for me to 'remember', to wake myself up from the slumber of everyday living.
Morning ritual is a gateway for me to connect with myself, with God/Spirit/Grace/Guides.
It's important to set up a space that you dedicate to do your Ritual every day as the energy can be anchored into the space and it can increase its potency over time. And over time, I found this space become 'Home' for me.
Every morning I come to my Temple room (yup, I've set up a room specifically for that) but it could be simply some space where you dedicate to your process/ritual.
I light up some candles and say a prayer. For example, My prayer was "Dear Grace, I pray for your love and guidance. I pray for strength and courage to keep showing up in your Temple".That prayer was quite specific to me...But you can choose to say a prayer, or even state an intention for the day.
Then I often sit on my mat, one hand on my heart, one hand on my belly. I check in to see how I feel. "Ok, I feel quite numb and disconnected today" or "I actually feel really good and excited today" or "I don't know what the f*ck I feel"...Whatever comes up, I just simply acknowledge that's where I am.
The more I come to acceptance with where I am, the easier it is for me to access my body. Most of the time, people spend time fighting the battle that is not worth fighting for, they judge, shame, shut down and then judge and shame some more. And often they override their system, their bulldoze their heart, their tenderness, their body needs.
Accept, Welcome and then Open to more...
I personally believe that if we carefully listen to all those tender parts within our heart, our body, we probably live a happier and more fulfilled.
Dancing, movement and embodiment have been such an important part of my daily ritual. My intention is never to 'get rid of' how I feel. My intention is never to feel more empowered because that comes anyway throughout the process. My intention is always about Connection.
I've lived my many (yes many) years of my life shutting down, numbing, disconnecting and abandoning myself, which often led to me searching for external things to fill me up. And when I realised that when I deeply connect with myself, I feel fuller within myself.
And it's particularly important to tend to those tender pieces of yourself. The more you force and push, the harder it is for your heart to open. Think about this like Sex. Trying to force your way into a woman's vagina is a violation to her, yet this is what we often do to ourselves.
Music is often a beautiful tool to support embodiment. I have playlists for specific feelings - like anger/rage, grief, tenderness/sadness, ecstatic...And I often just turn the music on and let my body does its magic.
Often the feelings move through quite quickly, leaving space for a deeper connection to be present. Presence and patience are crucial in this process. It's a great muscle to build when it comes to relating. When you really take the time to be present with yourself, you set a permission field of presence for you with others.
When I feel there's a feeling of connection, of spaciousness...I know I'm connected to Essence/myself/God/Spirit...
It's then followed with journalling... When I'm in this space, often words flow out effortlessly. This is the space I used for writing, for channelling, for creation, for visioning, for manifesting.
If you're stuck here, start with the following suggestions:"What's the message for me today?""Who do I need to become or step into today?""What actions are aligned with my vision today?""What wants to be birthed, what wants to move through me today?""Who am I guided to connect to today?"
Each weekday I dedicate my time for this. This comes before work, before actions, before anything else. And this process usually is about 1 hour, sometimes more, sometimes less. But it takes years to be consistent and dedicated to this big chunk of time.
When you first start, I recommend 15 - 20 minutes and then build as you go.
I often get reflections/comments on how much they can feel me, feel my heart in my writing or over coffee chats. This process is great for getting the morning started, but also it's a pathway of deep connection with yourself, it's a way to live with an open heart, with deeper connection and authenticity.
This is a basic map of my devotional ritual. As you start doing it more consistently, you'll find your own map, your own unique way of connecting to your heart, your soul, your sex.
Feel free to reach out if you have questions about the rituals.
